Marine Firesleeve Cross Reference Guide
Marine grade Firesleeve (fire sleeve) is manufactured from a heavy duty braided fiberglass sleeve which is then coated with silicone rubber. Typical use is for the protection of hydraulic hoses, cables and wires from high temperature, flames, welding splatter, sparks and contamination in marine environments. Marine firesleeve (meeting SAE AS1072) is the same product that is used for aviation applications, and provides a 15 minute fireproof rating as defined in AS1055D
Typical use of MarineFiresleeve is the protection of fuel, oil and hydraulic hoses in marine applications, typically on reciprocating gas and diesel engines and turbine engines, along with APUs and generators. The braided fiberglass base sleeve is denser and heavier than the knitted sleeve used in industrial grade Firesleeve.
